Another overseas tournament, another live streamed event.

Tomorrow (March 11th), the Grand Prix Zagreb Open in Zagreb, Croatia will be available to watch live as it happens on YouTube. The tournament, an annual event on the US Greco-Roman calendar, is the second stop on the current March European tour and for most of the roster, represents the last competition before the World Team Trials later next month.

The US Greco-Roman Seniors in Europe captured some momentum last weekend in Denmark at the 15th annual Thor Masters Invitational. Two wrestlers who were making their way back to full-time competition, 2008 Olympian Ildar Hafizov (59 kg, Army/WCAP) and 2016 Olympian Robby Smith (130 kg, NYAC), earned gold medals. 2016 US National Champion Patrick Smith (71 kg, Minnesota Storm) fought his way through a tough bracket to come away with a well-deserved bronze. Overall, the US team won 32 out of 51 matches in the pool-formatted event, with three of those bouts pitting Americans against each other.

Tomorrow’s Grand Prix Zagreb Open promises to offer just as much excitement. Many of the world’s most talented Greco-Roman wrestlers are going to be on the mat, as delegations from Japan, Russia, Hungary, Germany, Poland, South Korea and Serbia have confirmed their participation. Of course, the host country can also be expected to field a competitive squad.

There are two avenues to stream the Zagreb — via YouTube or by hopping over to the event’s page on United World Wrestling.
